On the full-scale Cub’s, you slide the window don’t on the side reach thru and open the door. The standard Cub did not have a door handle on the outside. Over the years many have been modified to have a handle on the outside.
My first 1/4 cub, I put a door handle on the outside.

For my 1/4 scale L4 I changed it up a little and used an Allen head that is flush with outside of the door.
For the inside part it’s the same on both doors. On the door I use a few brass parts. I don’t have any set sizes so just look at the photos for the idea. I use a spring on it so its always held in the close positions. In the fuselage you will need matching holes for the rods to go into.

This shows you the guts of the system in the door. You are looking at the inside. A thin sheet of 1/64 balsa covers the door up on the inside.

This is in the close position

This is open and you can see the spring is streatched.
For the top of the door, you will see in my Cub it has two small pins in the window that lines up with holes in the door.

For the L4 it has a grove that matches up with the door.
